Pay attention to bold and italic fonts

Interesting post by Raymond Chen regarding the use of font attributes (such as bold and italics) in UI and their disastrous effects in CJK languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) : Bold and italics ideograms are just plain unreadable.

OK, but how do we emphasis items in our UIs then? Raymond's answer:
You should let the localizers choose how they want the emphasis to be performed by allowing them to specify the font face, size and attributes.

Aargh! I'm being unfair, that's what you mean?
Obviously, you're right. Sorry about that, Michael. I confess I've stopped linking to your blog because if I would do so every time you right something interesting, I'd be doing it full-time :-)
More seriously, I believe that my readers who are interested in advanced i18n techniques are readers of yours as well, hence no need to repeat.

But as I write this, I realize that all this is true about Raymond as well!
